Cody’s Future: Please Help Us See It!
Cody 2020’s Purpose:
We are facilitating a process with Cody area residents to review the 1997 process, Vision 2007,
to update vision statements and to advocate their use for the community’s future.
The 1997 Vision Statement:
“We will champion Cody’s unique quality of life and hometown values,
while promoting healthy growth and progress.”

Step 1: Collect Information from Community |
Gather initial information and ideas. Talk to as many people as possible about the things people value most about Cody. The enclosed Data Collection Form will be used in the many groups and organizations throughout the community to gather this initial input. |
Now until May 1. |

Step 2: Public Meeting |
Group the input into “like” categories. Invite public participation to review previous statements and in a group process, revise or develop broad vision statements for each category. Use these to revise the overall vision statement. |

Step 3: Community Survey Development |
The vision statement in 1997 included actionable ideas and directions which came from a more involved discussion with the participants. Cody 2020 will use a variety of methods to solicit input from community members regarding the future of the community. |
Summer 2009 –Develop survey tools. Initiate Survey by the City’s Ice cream Social. |

Step 4: Sort the Data |
Use survey data to develop items for the community to consider in each “category” |
Fall 2009 |

Step 5: Community Meeting to Share Results |
Public gathering to discuss the vision statements and the proposed items as envisioned by the community. Possibly a celebration in conjunction with the New Year! |
December 2009 |

Step 6: Convey results to Local Leadership |
Meet with local groups and local government to convey the Cody 2020 results. |
